The treatment consists of three main stages:
Canal negotiation. The goal is to find the passage throughout the entire length of the root to its apex. This is the most complex and time-consuming stage of treatment. Sometimes the canal diameters are very small, such as 0.06 mm, 0.08 mm, 0.1 mm. Surgical microscopes are necessary to locate canals with such small diameters. Ultrasonic scalers are used for canal preparation, allowing for precise and accurate work while preserving as much tooth structure as possible.
Chemomechanical cleaning of the canals. The goal is to enlarge the negotiated canal, preserving the anatomy of the tooth root canal, and preparing the space for medication and a new filling material. Flexible nickel-titanium instruments are used in this stage to remove remaining debris and old filling materials. However, mechanical instruments cannot reach all areas of the root canal system, so antiseptic solutions are used to disinfect the root canal system.
Canal filling. The goal is to fill the canal with filling material throughout its entire length. Thermoplastic filling materials are used, which adapt to the complex canal anatomy by heating and condensing, ensuring a hermetic seal.
The success rate of endodontic treatment is around 94%. Modern advanced technology and comprehensive knowledge help overcome complex situations, such as negotiating curved or calcified canals, removing fractured instruments or old fillings.
Today, endodontic treatment is painless, and the results are successful and long-lasting.
